Application and Selection Process
Applying for scholarship at Western Sydney University is an easy process, and no separate scholarship application is required. All new applications to the University will automatically be considered for available scholarships. Our panel of officers will conduct shortlisting twice a year.
Applicants are urged to submit a statement of purpose supporting their application. In this statement, applicants should explain how they think the scholarship will benefit their studies and future careers. The selection criteria and panel review will be used to rank applicants, and successful candidates will receive updates via email from the University.
Eligibility
The scholarship is open to new international students who intend to begin their studies in either 2023 or 2024. All international applicants are automatically considered for scholarships funded by the University. No separate scholarship application is needed.
Eligible Programs
The scholarship is available for the following programs:
- Master of Humanitarian and Development Studies
- Master of Social Work (Qualifying)
- Master of Science (majors relating to Sustainable Development Goals)
- Master of Engineering (Environmental or Civil)
- Master of Public Health
- Master of Health Science
- Master of Planning
- Master of Architecture and Urban Transformation
- Juris Doctor
- Master of Data Science
- Master of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Benefits
The Sustainable Development Goals International Postgraduate Scholarship offers a notable benefit of covering fifty percent (50%) of tuition fees per session for full-time enrolment throughout the duration of the degree, up to a maximum of two years.
Please note that this scholarship is specifically for tuition fees and does not cover expenses related to living, accommodation, transportation, overseas student health coverage, or other study-related costs.
Duration
The scholarship is available for a duration of two years.
Criteria
Applicants must ensure the following criteria are met to be eligible for this scholarship:
- Must Submit an application for admission at least two months before the session resumption date.
- Be an international student and not hold Australian citizenship, New Zealand citizenship, or permanent residency in Australia. If there are changes in your visa status to one of these categories during your study period, the scholarship will no longer apply.
- Commence a new program of study in 2023 or 2024.
- Have gotten an offer of admission to Western Sydney University.
- Must meet the academic qualifications for the scholarship, which means achieving a minimum ATAR of 90 or an equivalent score in a completed higher secondary study.
- Meet all other admission requirements and accept the admission offer by the acceptance deadline.
Applicants are not eligible if they:
- Are citizens of Australia or New Zealand or hold permanent residency in Australia?
- Are study abroad or exchange students coming to the University?
- They are currently enrolled at Western Sydney University and are applying for a scholarship for their existing program of study.
- Seek to make an application for advanced standing for their program before or after enrollment.
- Do not tender an application to study at Western Sydney University and/or accept their admission by the date of closure.
- Are applying to study in a program located at the Sydney City campus.
- Have been given another scholarship by the University or another organization that covers the cost of tuition fees (fully or partially) for studying at Western Sydney University.
- Are applying to study for a postgraduate research degree.
Application Period
There is no separate scholarship application period, as eligibility is automatically assessed alongside your application to Western Sydney University. Note that a limited number of scholarships are available for each session, and they are open until they are filled.
We strongly advise successful applicants to accept the scholarship as soon as they receive their Offer of Admission letter to secure their funding.

I love the university….. You know its cool name but I don’t know why they disqualified students from new Zealand and Australia, it’s not good,it should be opened for everyone.
